i had my first school day in hugh christie technology college today; it was cool but very tiring. i got up at 6:30 am and had breakfast (toast!) and then i had to take the bus to school. my host dad was so kind to find out for me what time i have a bus yesterday (it's not that easy, on the internet you can hardly find anything and so we had to go take a look at the bus stops). on the way to school it worked out perfectly well, i even thought i had to take two buses but that wasn't the case so it only took me about 25 minutes (its about 6 miles) even though there was a lot of traffic, i exspected it to be like 40 minutes (that's what google said).

so i was at school and my teacher mr. h. was waiting there at the school reception for me and the 9 other host students. mr. h. is teaching the subject called: 'english, england and the english way of life' where we are even gonna do some visits and trips first one on friday to the village leigh (never heard about it before but it's supposed to be nice). so we had a lot of administration stuff to be done while mr. h. never forgot to get angry or sad, depending on the situation, when we used a american word or pronounced a word in the american way. mr. h. has a special way of treating us anyway, he gives us names (a boy is called strange boy cause he was laughing all the time, a girl is called cheater because he swears he's seen her cheating). i haven't got a name yet but he told us that we're all going to have names tomorrow, so i'll inform you about my name if it's not too embarrassing for me :) in the afternoon a lady came because we had to choose our subjects. i choose maths, history and photography, in which i get as-level = half an a level, and with a full a level you can go studying in uk, and i can do the a level in german without taking courses so i already have my 'uk-matura' in german :)... tomorrow i get my timetable and then i have two weeks to find out if my subjects are good for me so i can change'm again... after this subject-lady a police officer came to tell us things like 'don't get in a car with a stranger' or 'watch your drink because somebody could put something in it' and so on it was quite boring. then school was off at 4:30 and i took a bus but i had to get out at tonbridge and then no bus came for about 15 minutes and i couldn't see information about departure times anywhere... but i'm sure i'll find out.

what else... i have a lot of homework, i have to write an essay about myself so mr. h. can see how good or bad my english is... then i got 3 questionnaires, about london (for example questions like: what does legend say will happen if the ravens leave the tower of london?) kent (name the town what was once a thriving naval dockyard) and britain (what sort of hat do english businessmen wear?) and every questionnaire with about 50 questions. it has to be done in 2 weeks. yeah.

so tomorrow i have another day doing administration things at school...

at home everything's fine, my room is already decorated with all my photos and i unpacked all my things. food is good, really don't understand why i've been warned by so many people about the british food!

i'm really tired, like every day since i am here, cause i see so many new things every day! so i'll go to bed soon.

some people asked me about photos, i have to thinks about it, i might set up a picasa page where u can see all the photos or i'll just put some on the blog, don't know yet.

so have a nice week and i'll blog again soon

  1. Holy crab! That seems like a lot of new experiences!
    1. What, do they use miles in the UK? Ouch.
    2. Is Mr. H rundlich and a huge fan of INTER MILAN? And possibly undercover?
    3. Three subjects? Maths, history, photography and nothing else? So what do you do all day long? And why do you get an UK german matura without even taking a german course? Do they even know if you really speak german, or do they just believe it?
    4. Here's some help for your questionnaire: British businessmen wear hat such as this one.
