today, the sixth form leavers assembly took place at school. it was mainly to say goodbye to the year 13s who go off to uni or work (but also somehow to us internationals, even though we'll still be around at school until the end of next week).

it's unbelievable how much stuff i bought/got in ten months...  as there would be no way of fitting everything into my suitcase, i posted a parcel of nine kilograms (my arms are still aching) today. bye-bye shoes, jackets, jumpers, books! greetings, the packing-genius (well, not quite).

LONDON - ellen and i went borough market, to the tate modern, then crossed the thames by the millennium bridge, walked towards charing cross along the strand, went onto the charing cross bridge and took touristy pictures (we just thought we kinda have to do it before we leave), had dinner at the italian restaurant 'zizzi', took more touristy pictures and went home. a good day!

as the weather was reasonably good today (just a bit sticky), i went to hastings with ellen for the second time. we first had lunch at the same place as last time and then went to the seafront, where we were enjoying the sun and finally took a little walk along the beach. before we went home again, we took the hastings east railway to get up some hill, from where we had a good view :)

:)

there were lots and lots of tourists in hastings. i don't really understand them. don't get me wrong, hastings is a nice town, and i did enjoy it - it's just that i couldn't spend a week down there. there are just places where the sea is nicer (especially to swim in), and the town you've seen after half a day. i documented two things tourists can do in hastings today, and i think that activities like them just can't make or keep people happy for long...

anyway. that's the view from the hill we went up to:

three typical things you can find in an english supermarket:

1) bread. well, it's not bread. it's toast. they just call it bread, cause they don't have bread as we know it. i'm looking forward to proper bread.

2) jelly. i don't like it.

3) baked beans. i do like them :)

london, london, i love london... i've last been there about a month ago, so it was time to go again. i went to the british museum with ellen. the british museum is a museum dedicated to history and culture from all over the world, plus several exhibitions. they have countless sculptures and paintings from every century. also, the museum has got a quite interesting architecture with the 'great court' in the middle.

i've been to DOVER today with ellen and minky. dover lies at the narrowest part of the english channel and therefore the main port is situated in dover, with all the ferries coming from and going to calais, france. the town isn't really special, neither the beach; but there is something that made me fall in love with dover: the white chalk cliffs and the vegetation upon them. there's a path on the cliffs, which we followed. we enjoyed watching the busy port from above, then we continued our walk for about an hour. we could even see the coast of france, the weather was so good! it was just wonderful, but see yourself:

up!

can you see france? :)
